Taco Seasoning Recipe

Makes: approximately 1 cup, which is 4x the amount in a store bought taco seasoning packet.
¼ cup Chili Powder 
¼ cup Cumin Powder
1 Tablespoon Garlic powder
1 Tablespoon Onion powder 
1 teaspoon Oregano leaf (or oregano leaf powder)
a dash of Paprika
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
Instructions:  Put all spices in a jar and shake well. Store in an airtight jar for up to six months. 

To use: Sprinkle on ground beef or chicken as you would any store bought taco seasoning.  Or try it in these Vegetarian Tacos, to season this Black Bean Burrito, or in this Layered Black Bean​ dip.

Italian Seasoning

Makes: approximately 1 cup
½ cup Basil
½ cup Oregano
¼ cup Thyme
¼ cup Rosemary 
2 Tablespoons Garlic Powder
Instructions: Put all spiced and herbs in a jar and shake well.  Store in an airtight jar or container for up to 1 year. 

To use:  Use to season pastas, pizzas, chicken parmesan or any of these recipes:  One Pot Pasta with Veggies, Roasted Chicken with Root Vegetables,  or Baked Meatballs

Curry Powder Recipe

Makes: approximately 2 cups
½
cup Paprika
¼ cup Cumin
1 tablespoon Fennel
2 tablespoons Fenugreek Powder (optional, gives sweetness)
2 tablespoons ground Mustard Powder
1 tablespoon ground Red Pepper Flakes
3 tablespoons ground Coriander 
cup ground Turmeric root
1 tablespoon ground Cardamom
1 teaspoon ground Cinnamon 
½ teaspoon ground cloves
Instructions: Put all spiced and herbs in a jar and shake well.  Store in an airtight jar or container until use.

To use: Sprinkle on meats, vegetables or mix into soups and stews.  It is especially good with chicken, shrimp and vegetables.  You could also try it with these recipes: Curried Chicken and Rice Casserole, Brown Rice Pilaf or Curried Chicken with Mushrooms and Raisins.

Ragin' Cajun Seasoning

Makes: approximately ​¾ cup 
​½ cup Paprika
¼ cup Garlic powder
2 tablespoons Black pepper
2 tablespoons Onion powder
1 tablespoon Cayenne pepper
2 tablespoons Oregano leaf
1 tablespoon Thyme leaf 
Instructions: Mix all ingredients in an airtight container and store. 

To use: Mix in with stir fry dishes, eggs, casseroles or sprinkle on meats.  You could also try mixing it into this Lite Fried Okra recipe, Crock Pot Red Beans and Rice, this Bean and Rice Botana, or even this Bean, Vegetable and Barley Chili.

Healthy Ranch Dressing Mix

Makes: about ​½ cup
¼ cup dried Parsley leaf
1 tablespoon Dill leaf
1 tablespoon Garlic powder
1 tablespoon Onion powder
​​½ teaspoon Basil leaf

​½ teaspoon ground Black Pepper
Instructions: Mix all ingredients in an airtight container until ready to use. 

To make dressing: Combine 1 tablespoon of this mix with ​⅓ cup greek yogurt or mayo and ¼ cup milk or non dairy milk and add to one of our salad recipes.  
Or you can use this mix dry in our Crunchy Vegetable Wrap or Veggie Pinwheel recipes instead of using the store-bought ranch packets.

Caribbean Jerk Seasoning

Makes: approximately ⅓ cup
¼ cup Onion powder

2 tablespoons Thyme
2 teaspoons ground Allspice
1 tablespoon Cinnamon
1 teaspoon Cayenne pepper (optional, makes it spicy)
Instructions: Mix all ingredients in an airtight container until ready to use. 

To use: This spice is great on any meat.  Mix 1 tablespoon with 1 tablespoon honey and spread over meat.  Or use it in this Meatless Dirty Rice recipe, these Fish Tacos, Crock Pot Steak and Peppers or Pulled Pork.

All Purpose Seasoning

Makes: approximately ⅓ cup
5 teaspoons Onion powder
1 tablespoon Garlic powder
1 tablespoon Paprika
1 tablespoon ground Mustard
1 teaspoon dried Thyme
½ teaspoon black pepper
Instructions: Place all ingredients into a small jar with a shaker top. 

To use: Sprinkle on fish, vegetables or chicken.  Or you can try it with these recipes: Crock Pot Root Vegetable Stew, Summer Squash Medley, or Kale Chips.

Fajita Seasoning

Makes: about ⅔ cup
¼ cup Chili powder
2 tablespoons Paprika
1 tablespoon Onion powder
1 tablespoon Garlic powder
1 tablespoon Cumin
1 teaspoon Cayenne pepper
Instructions: Mix all ingredients in an airtight container and store.

To use: sprinkle 1 tsp of seasoning over steak, chicken or vegetables for fajitas.  Or try it with this Fajita Chicken Bake, Southwestern Pepper Cups or Chili Popcorn.

Asian Five Spice Seasoning

Makes: about ½ cup
​2 tablespoons Anise powder
1 tablespoon ground Pepper
1 tablespoon ground Fennel
1 tablespoon Cinnamon
1 tablespoon ground Cloves
Instructions: Mix all ingredients in an airtight container and store until ready to use.  

To use: Add this spice to stir fry dishes, vegetables or meats.  Some recipe ideas this spice would work well with are Healthy Vegetable Fried Quinoa, Zesty Brussels Sprouts or our Peanut Noodle Stir Fry.

Chili Seasoning Mix

Makes: about 1¾ cups  
½ cup Chili powder
¼ cup Garlic powder
¼ cup Onion powder
¼ cup Oregano
¼ cup Cumin
2 tablespoons Paprika
​1 tablespoon Thyme
Instructions: Mix all ingredients in an airtight container and store until ready to use. 

To use:  Sprinkle this spice in any chili recipe, like this Quick Chili, Butternut Harvest Chili or this Southwestern Sweet and Spicy Chili.  Or try it in this Cheesy Bean Dip!

Pumpkin Pie Spice

Makes: about ⅓ cup
¼ cup Cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground Ginger
2 teaspoons Nutmeg
2 teaspoons Allspice
½ teaspoon ground Cloves (optional) 
Instructions: Mix all ingredients in an airtight container

To use: Use this mix like you would any other pumpkin pie mix.  Try it in this Pumpkin Oatmeal, these Baked Apples and Sweet Potatoes, or this Pumpkin and White Bean Soup.
