EXERCISE TIPS

Picture

Be patient
Seeing the results you want from exercise, like losing weight, takes time. But when you exercise, there are lots of good changes happening inside your body that you can't see. Be patient and don't get discouraged. The results will come!

Make exercise a habit
More than half of people who start an exercise program drop out. Getting into a routine of exercising is often the hardest part. Making physical activity part of your everyday life, even in small amounts, is a great way to form a healthy habit.

Sneak in exercise whenever you can
  • Park your car further away at the store.
  • Do squats, crunches, or push-ups during commercial breaks while watching TV.
  • Take the stairs instead of the elevator.
  • Try biking or walking to school or work from time-to-time.
  • Sneak any of these 14 things into your day to burn 100 extra calories!

No need for fancy equipment or gym memberships

There are many ways you can exercise for little or no cost. Items you may have at home, like bags of rice or bottles of water, can be used as weights.  And don't forget that you can always just use your own body weight!

TIP:

Check with your local high school, most track and fields are free to use!

Lean on social support
Exercise with your friends, co-workers or family members to encourage each other. Try exercise classes or group activities, it will be more enjoyable!
