Tips used when buying this basket

Buy in bulk
This 2 lb container of yogurt cost $1.89, and the smaller individual containers cost $0.69.  This large container has more yogurt than 5 smaller individual containers.  If you bought 5 small containers it would cost $3.45.  The larger container was a better buy!

Buy canned fruits and vegetables
Canned fruits and vegetables are budget friendly.  When buying canned fruits look for fruit packed in juice rather than heavy syrup to lower sugar intake.  When buying canned vegetables, look for labels that say no added salt, or low sodium.

Budget Pantry Tips

Budget Pantry
  1. Filling your favorite veggies with a stuffing is an easy and healthy meal. Some stuffed veggie ideas are sweet potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, zucchini and the list goes on!

  2. Root vegetables and squash are great fresh vegetables to buy for a budget pantry!  They last a long time and are very filling. You will probably see them most often in the winter when they are in season!

  3. Dry beans take longer to cook but are usually a better buy than canned beans.  A 2lb bag of dried beans makes about the same amount as 3-4 cans of beans!  Learn how to cook dry beans on our blog.
